Kiwifruit
are cultivated in New Zealand and have a fuzzy brown skin with a
surprisingly green interior. With a flavor similar to
strawberries and the tartness of pineapple, they are perfect for
a variety of uses. Firm fruits are easiest to slice. You may want to use fresh
pears in this salad in the summer. There are over 5,000
varieties, so you will have a great selection to choose from.
Superior pears are grown in France, California, Oregon and
Washington. Pears are actually better if they are picked when
unripe and left to ripen in your kitchen or produce section of
your local grocery store. Canned pears are soft and juicy.
