Nutmeg is native to the East Indies and was very popular from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. Dough may be cut into mini-star shapes for a holiday cookie or into animal shapes for a perfect healthy cookie for kids.

2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/3 cup clover honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1.  In a medium bowl, mix the whole-wheat flour, all-purpose
flour, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg.

2.  In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar with a wooden
spoon. Stir in honey, vanilla and milk, then dry ingredients.

3.  Refrigerate the dough for half an hour. Flour a large
breadboard and then roll dough to a 1/4-inch.

4.  Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Sprinkle
with sugar and nutmeg. Bake in preheated 350°

     oven for 10 minutes.
